The museum's pottery collection, the first Beila

This Friday, November 26, we were fortunate to have, for the first Beil, with Emilio and Ana Rosa Manrique Abbey who told us about the ceramic collection of our museum.
Both are part of the Friends of decorated ceramics and pottery.

Emilio told us that our collection, for the most part, is dated to the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and that is a clear exponenente final stage of the traditional society of Serrablo.
The pottery of this period were omnipresent in daily life and are mainly characterized by its functionality.
Especially at that time these objects were located in the home: in warehouses, storerooms and overcooking. Although the vast storehouse of vessels was in the kitchen, especially to prepare, season and cooking. The vessels to fire were mostly stews and casseroles. Jars were also used to store liquids and foods, earthenware jars, honey, etc.

also told us that there are ceramic objects associated with the human life cycle, so we find small parts used as toys by children, others were part of the trousseau of the bride and others linked to death, as dishes to be used specifically for funeral meals. There are also ceramic
linked to beliefs and rituals, such as pots and pans and fraternities, according to these experts, the museum has a rich and important their representation. Lastly
also discussed the provenance of these objects, so most of the potteries from Naval Bandali and one of Catalonia, dance and even Soria, and the systems used (wires and staples) to arrange the pieces frequently broke, example of a society of scarcity.

A very interesting and educational talk.
